We just visited this lovely town over the weekend for their annual Strawberry Festival. Everything was OUTSTANDING!! What an amazing community!! The city was so clean, even with thousands of extra people in a relatively small area. Everyone we interacted with was so nice and helpful. This town does it right! I read in the strawberry festival booklet where the Mayor said Buckhannon is 'everything small town America should be.' WOW! Was he ever correct! You definitely have a town to be proud of Mr. Mayor! We will be most certainly be back! Thank you for a fantastic time and visit!

I lived in Buckhannon, west virginia my whole life and I have always looked for a way to get out. Buckhannon use to be a family friendly town: children use to be safe, parents use to raise their children to be more respectful and responsible. Teachers use to care about the students, grown ups use to not be door mats. There use to be a time you could walk down the street and wave hi to anybody that passed by. Since drugs have taken over, and discipline is non existent any more. Even law enforcement aren't good Samaritans anymore. Everybody use to care about public safety, but that is what happens when you keep making excuses and compromises, the world just gets worse.

This is the best city in West Virginia. I absolutely love Buckhannon! I used to visit here with my family as a kid, and now, as an adult, I am so happy I live here. It truly is the most Southern town in the state (even though it isn’t geographically). Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. Neighbors care for neighbors, everyone knows your name, and kids play freely in the streets. We have an awesome Downtown, beautiful, quiet, safe neighborhoods, a fantastic college, and some great hometown businesses. The annual strawberry festival is a blast, and there’s a new bbq festival in the Summer. The Mayor, who’s young and full of love for this town, always says, “this is what Small Town America should be.” He’s right. Buckhannon has it going on. I would encourage anyone and everyone to consider moving to Buckhannon. You’ll love it. I promise.

It’s a great place for children and has mostly great people. Only improvement needed is the roads they’re quite bad in places.

Buckhannon is BY FAR the nicest town/city in WV. Downtown is vibrant and full of beautiful flowers. The businesses are open, friendly, and unique. Main Street is actually full of retail and restaurants - something you don't see very often in other cities or towns. Our neighborhoods are really nice, too. The houses are well-kept, and everyone is proud of their yards. The Mayor is pretty awesome too. I've never met someone who genuinely cares about his city the way Robbie does. Honestly, a lot of why Buckhannon has flourished is because of him. He has instilled a pride in our town that hasn't always been the strongest, but he leads by example.

It is a small town, so there isn't much to do, however you get really close to people. Some restaurants are not as good as others, so choose carefully. The people here are friendly and usually excepting. I wouldn't recommend living here if you like city life. Its worth a visit but I would live somewhere else.

Buckhannon is a small town located in mid central West Virginia. While it is a college town, it does not have that college town feel. There are new restaurants and small businesses opening often making it a great place to try new foods and shop.

I like the small town feel from Buckhannon. Even if you don't know the people around, they are as kind as family and friends should be. There are a great mix of people. Businesses are popping up everywhere. I love my hometown.

Verbally abusive schools along with 5 project buildings all are drug dens. The city is getting slightly better but when you have a drug problem that literally covers 18% of the population of Buckhannon I mean what’s better. The night life sucks only 3 places that only one is worth going to. And expect lots of traffic on morning commutes as they do not have very good ways to reach the school and all have to take the main road in and out of BU. A 10 min drive is about 30 mins on weekday mornings. If you have any children AVOID THIS PLACE as the public schools are awful drugs run through the HS constantly and little is done. If you hate your life and your kids this is a wonderful place to live.

Buckhannon is AMAZING!! I love this town! The new Mayor is young, energetic, and is doing a fantastic job! In fact, all of the leaders know what they’re doing, and it shows. Downtown is beautiful and full, the houses are well-kept, the college is prestigious, public schools are great, and the people are warm and friendly. I’m originally from Georgia, and I feel completely at home here. Buckhannon has a very Southern atmosphere, and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

Buckhannon is a quaint, quiet little town with some bigger town amenities and conveniences. The community is off the beaten path yet close to the interstate. Something I would consider changing is cost of homes, as they are slightly high. Good for sellers, but tough for buyers. Perhaps, this is what keeps this little piece of almost heaven so nice.

My college in Buckhannon is there and it is amazing. The public is really sweet, there is always something to do. The safety is amazing that you do not feel uneasy about being alone. You meet some really good people.

I have grown up in this small town. I believe that it is a nice town, but now room for self growth. There is no jobs here unless you sell a car, make a drink or flip a burger. This town is a nice place to raise a family if you are already financially set. The other down fall is that so many live off the system here as a way of life.

Buckhannon is a better small town than many in West Virginia. The town has some great small businesses and has a real artistic flair. Great place to raise a family, but not much diversity or other activities. Public transportation is also poor and employment opportunities are limited.

Buckhannon is overall a wonderful city, and has many opportunities that other surrounding states or counties wouldn't. The community programs all help one another, and overall it is a very friendly place. However, despite this, I do wish that there was even more generosity. People look at each other and smile on the streets, but little is done to help unless prompted to do so by another.
