As the title states, can Alcaraz conquer grass? Maybe even Wimbledon? He's a great mover. If he can figure out that he has to take very good care of his serve and he can't have those off games here and there, he may. If he continues to have those off games, particularly on his service games, and he's facing a big server, I can see it getting dicey for Carlitos.
No matter who wins Wimbledon, please let the tennis gods be kind to us and not have yet another Djokovic win at Wimbledon.

I watch a youtuber who calls matches (Tennis Talk Cam Williams) and he said that tennis needs some American stars to help it stay popular.
I know nothing about this - but it's kind of true about figure skating. The revenue from streaming, shows, and such, starts lagging without any stars and especially any American ones. Even in powerhouse skating countries like Japan, it starts lagging (though that may be because they lost their superstar Yuzuru Hanyu.)
Oh well, like I said, I know nothing about these things but have a kind of ocd interest in keeping up with the names of players and the stats and stuff. Like the people who used to memorize baseball data.

Today’s Wimbledon qualies’ interesting matches:
- Lucas Pouille v Giulio Zeppieri
- Sofia Kevin v Moyuka Uchijima
- Pablo Cuevas (and his magnificent nose) v Felipe Meligeni Alves
- Vera Zvonareva (one of the Undead, at this late stage in her career) v Darja Semenistaja
- Taylor Townsend v Noma Noha Akugue
Mileage may vary.

by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 28, 2023 7:11 PM |
Stef’s predicament is sad. He has obvious technical glitches in his game that might be addressed with professional coaching. He is too tied to his family. I feel bad for him because he seems like a nice guy. He simply does not realize that his fathers great interest and devotion to him is not what he needs and may possibly be holding him down.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 28, 2023 11:06 PM |
He has Morataglou on his team. Not just his dad, though dad is a lousy influence.
I had a father who was difficult to please. I wouldn’t want him sitting in a front row, impatiently steaming about something I’d done. It doesn’t bring out anything good in anyone.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 28, 2023 11:16 PM |
Maybe his love for his father is greater than his desire to win majors.
He's got a great FH and a very good serve. He's a damn good volleyer and has a good overhead, IIRC. The big weaknesses I see are: 1. he has a lousy slice BH, and 2. he often drops his topspin BH short.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 28, 2023 11:16 PM |

Djokovic banned his father from his matches and when he let his obnoxious father back at the AO, his father again got negative press so Djokovic banned him again. That's how Tsitsipas should do it. It's not as if they're going to disown him, is it?

Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki announces comeback
Three years after retiring from professional tennis, former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki announced she would be returning to the sport in a first-person essay for Vogue on Thursday.
Wozniacki, 32, said she begin hitting again after her second child was born in October, and it made her realize how much she missed the sport.
"It's hard to say why, or what changed, but when my dad [and longtime coach, Piotr] saw me practice that day, and said, 'It looks like you're enjoying it more' -- that was exactly how I felt: I was relaxed and having fun, and somehow that let me see everything more clearly," Wozniacki said.
Wozniacki said she is targeting the Canadian Open in Montreal in August as her official return and then would play the US Open. She's a two-time finalist at the event, most recently in 2014, when she lost to close friend Serena Williams. Wozniacki spent 71 weeks at No. 1 during her career and won 30 titles, including the 2018 Australian Open and 2017 WTA Finals. She announced her impending retirement prior to the start of the 2020 season with the Australian Open being her final event. She ultimately lost in the third round in Melbourne to Ons Jabeur and was serenaded by the crowd with the singing of "Sweet Caroline," as well as an on-court ceremony at the match's end.
"I've accomplished everything I could ever dream of on the court," Wozniacki wrote on Instagram when she announced her retirement. "I've always told myself, when the time comes, that there are things away from tennis that I want to do more, then it's time to be done. In recent months, I've realized that there is a lot more in life that I'd like to accomplish off the court."
In the same post, she cited her desire to start a family with her husband, former NBA All-Star David Lee, and the couple have since welcomed two children -- a daughter named Olivia in June 2021 and a son named James in October 2022. Wozniacki joins a growing list of mothers competing on the WTA Tour, including Victoria Azarenka, Elina Svitolina and Taylor Townsend. Fellow former No. 1s Angelique Kerber and Naomi Osaka are both expected to return from maternity leave in 2024.
Since retiring, Wozniacki has worked as a commentator and analyst for ESPN and Tennis Channel. She participated in the Legends competition at the French Open earlier this month and won both of her doubles matches. She was partnered in her second match with Kim Clijsters, another former No. 1 and mother who came out of retirement twice over the course of her career.
In 2018, Wozniacki announced she had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. In her initial retirement post, she said her decision was not based on her health. But in her Vogue essay, she was candid about the debilitating pain she experienced as a result of the disease.
"My joints had swollen up so painfully because my immune system was in overdrive attacking my body," Wozniacki told Vogue. "And though I stayed on tour and gutted it out, all I wanted to do was sleep. (At one point, after a match, I slept for 43 out of 48 hours.)
"My rheumatologist and I came up with a plan: I'd take extraordinary care to walk, run, swim -- anything, really -- just to keep my joints moving; I'd hydrate myself relentlessly and eat a very particular kind of anti-inflammatory diet. It was complicated and precise, but effective -- until I reached a point where the entire process became too exhausting: keeping tabs on every single detail of what I ate, how much water I'd been drinking; putting in all the hours, every single day, on the court and in the gym and monitoring my recovery and traveling. That's when I knew I needed a break."
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 29, 2023 3:45 PM |
She said her rheumatoid arthritis symptoms have improved since taking the time away, but she has been "paying careful attention" to how her body reacts to the increase in training.
Wozniacki said she was unsure of how long her comeback would last, but said she is planning on playing the Australian Open at the start of the 2024 season and then will "take it from there." She said she was also hoping to play in the Olympics in Paris next summer. While she admitted there were some uncertainties and said she didn't want to make any "bold predictions," she sounded more than confident in her ability as she restarts her career.
"Am I nervous? Not really," Wozniacki said. "I'm coming back to something I love. Yes, I'll be nervous before a match; I'm okay with that. I'm great with that. Can I win the US Open? I think so. Can I win the Australian Open? I think so. That's why I'm doing this. And I guess we'll see what happens."

Wozniacki, please stay retired! While it can be entertaining for some, I haven't really enjoyed the numerous unretirements of players who have found that they have nothing career-wise without tennis nor players like Venus doing the wild card tour. They typically win one or two matches but that's it. Clijsters's comeback stands out as particularly cringe. I also remember Navratilova in her 40s - she at least was fit but looked 'roided up. Wozniacki was a particularly boring one-slam wonder.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 29, 2023 4:57 PM |
Coming back has nothing to do with tennis, its the desire for attention. Then when their inferior level of tennis is obvious, and her old friends are in the stands only rarely, and none of the newer players think she's remotely worth hanging with, she quietly slips back in to retirement. Montreal (look at me!), US Open (cringe!), then gone.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 29, 2023 5:23 PM |
Why can't they just play Legends? I blame the tournaments for giving them wildcards for 'commercial reasons'.

Shit. Now I have to find a means to watch Wimbledon without cable.

Sadly the BBC have again retained the droning nasal commentary of Tracy Austin. Not that there’s much to choose between her and that Queen of the Obvious Sam Smith - won so little in an uninspiring career which of course guaranteed her the British number 1 slot and now employed as a tennis expert - at least Austin was a winner.

Is Rybakina healthy enough to defend her title?
by Anonymous | reply 143 | July 2, 2023 5:24 AM |
I don't know but Rybakina has a horrible draw to get through so I wouldn't be shocked if she doesn't defend her title regardless. Barring upsets her route is Rogers - Cornet - Pera - Peppa Pig/Haddad Maia - Kvitova/Jabeur - Sabalenka/Muchova - Swiatek.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | July 2, 2023 5:30 AM |
Swiatek has a good draw so she needs to take advantage of it if possible.
Barring upsets her route is: Zhu - SorribesTormo - Martic - Bencic - Gauff - Kudermetova/Garcia/Pegula - Sabalenka/Rybakina
Basically nobody really good at grass until the final.

The Tennis Podcast on Saudi Arabia, tennis and sportswashing.
Sorry Djokovic stans if this seems to be yet another example of bubble-bursting, but if he deserves it, he deserves it. Actually, if the ATP/PTPA/WTA deserve it, they deserve it.
It’s all pretty craven and revolting.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | July 2, 2023 3:06 PM |
They didn’t go after Novak. They just pointed out that it’s disappointing when any player mentions the Saudis without acknowledging the human rights abuses.
I think he’s far from alone in that, but got the question because he’s been trying to position himself as a leader within the ATP.
by Anonymous | reply 154 | July 2, 2023 3:32 PM |
Sorry, r154, I didn't mean to imply that the Tennis Podcast was "going after Novak". I just wanted to point out that, as the TP point out, he was asked a direct question and didn't take the opportunity to speak out, and that some of his stans might see this as me trying to pile onto him even more. I also point out that the ATP, his own PTPA, and the WTA are just as culpable.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | July 2, 2023 3:48 PM |
Yeah, I was surprised to hear Billie Jean condone talking to the Saudis. But I believe her point was there’s no harm in talking.
But it’s a slippery slope. Soon they’ll be agreeing to a couple events with prize pools that dwarf anything outside the majors (or maybe even them) and no one will be able to say no.

That is the most you can play. Used to only be two, unless you lost the first week of the French and wanted to tack another smaller grass tourney on that started during the second week of the French. Summer hard court season, you could play three or four warmup tournaments and have weeks off as well.

"On ESPN, Chrissie was saying how surprised she is that Gauff hasn’t won a major but said her gradual climb has probably been better for her. The problem is that she’s no longer climbing; she’s descending."
Is she getting talking points from the network? Very few serious tennis commentators, even armchair fans/commentators think Gauff should have won a major. At one point people thought maybe she "would" but even that has faded. Kudos to her for getting to the Top 10, winning some titles, making a Slam final (with a busted draw, but still), and having a few other decent runs in Slams. But she's at a crossroads. She's good enough and determined enough to have a long career from No. 12-50, plus doubles. But serious Slam contender/champion is a whole other level, and she's far from it.

"It's got to be devastating for players who led the pack as juniors to straggle behind or stagnate after they hit the big time."
It's essentially the norm, especially for men. The top juniors who don't pan out as top pros far exceeds those that do. You can't really tell that much until everyone is fully grown and developed physically. You can judge strokes but the physical side, plus ATP level decision making skills and broader mental skills is all just speculation.

At a party, when asked to compare Jimmy Connors and Vitas Gerulaitis, Chris [Evert] picked up a soda bottle that had a straw in it. She held the straw in one hand and the bottle in the other. "This is Jimmy," she said. "This is Vitas." (I'll leave it to Jimmy and Vitas to guess who was the straw and who the bottle.)
-- who's the bottle? Quote is from a book I'm reading about 80s/90s tennis.
by Anonymous | reply 235 | July 4, 2023 3:05 AM |
Considering how easy it is for her forehand to break down, Gauff being in the top 10 is a pretty major achievement. She has a nice game, but I don't see her able to give say, Iga, problems on a consistent basis. Also, she really really needs to stop traveling with her parents. They always look so dour no matter what is happening on the court. That can't be fun, or supportive, forCoco.

Regarding my occasional boyfriend Mmoh, and the comment about being a big fish in juniors, and then the frustration of not ascending to the top in the pros, I heard an interesting statement in Mmoh's match yesterday. In the juniors, besides being at the top in the USA, he also had wins over Rublev, Tsitsipas and Hurkaz, among others. He's also had some very bad luck with injuries. Others here and elsewhere can analyze his technical flaws. All I can say is I've watched many of his matches, and he often crumbles, often from leading positions.

All of the WTA needs to employ a full time psychologist. Rybakina has a coach who berates her all the time as well - The Telegraph this week said a coach has been told to not hold his 'uncomfortably personal' pep talks in public areas and I think they're referring to him.
[quote]Take, for example, the leading coach who is so uncomfortably personal – abusive, according to some – in his so-called pep talks that he has been asked not to hold them in public areas of tournaments.
[quote]And it is not only the coaches: fitness trainers and physios are almost as likely to breach the bounds of professionalism. One high-profile clinician is known for spending more time with their player than would seem normal, both in and out of tournaments.
My guess is that this is Iga's psychologist - the Netflix episode showed her accompanying Iga to a haircut and creepily staring, telling the hairdresser how to do it.
[quote]One agent recently told me that he suspected a rival agent to have been sleeping with a player because ‘it worked’. In other words, her results improved when she felt loved-up.
I don't have a clue who this could be though but good gossip too.

Woz really doesn't fall in that category. One-slam wonders come on the scene and win a Slam relatively early and there's buzz and expectations of future sustained greatness, more Slam titles, and then they never reach that. They plateau, fade, never able to reach the heights again.
Woz had a lot of success - lots of non-Slam tournament wins, two Slam finals, several other deep runs (QF or better) at Slams, wins over top players, even a No. 1 ranking - but she was commonly seen as deficient in terms of being a top tier champion. She lacked "real weapons" and didn't quite have the physical game to run through a gauntlet of great players to win a Slam. She might wear one or two out with her consistency, but the next one would be "on" and she'd lose. And that's how it played out for the majority of her career. Then late in her career, she nabs an Australian Open, but is retired two years later. No one thought when she won the AO that she was destined for further Slams. It was a nice career capper - the beginning of the end.
Even when she was ranked No. 1 - due to her consistent performances during the entire seasons around that time - while people thought she might be able to take opportunity of the right draw and possibly win a Slam, she really wasn't expected to and no one was shocked that she didn't.

"I'm wondering how they fit in all these matches that are suspended due to darkness, the time "curfew" and of course, the rain." They work it out slowly over the next three days. They've dealt with this level of weather, and worse, before. Biggest thing is a lot of players won't get a day in between first and second round and/or second and third round.

Playing on the middle Sunday also helps get the schedule back and track. They only used to do that in extreme emergencies - super back logged. Downside of regular middle Sundays now is the absence of Super Monday when they'd play ALL of the men's AND women's round of 16 matches.

Only romantically involved since May, Greek world number five Tsitsipas and Spain's New York-born Badosa, who has been as high as number two in the rankings, are very much a modern couple.
They already have a joint Instagram account blending their names into one -- "Tsitsidosa".
"Best friends and soulmates. Nothing less; nothing more," purrs its tagline.
Boasting almost 57,000 followers, the platform has showcased the couple in Dubai, splashing about in a swimming pool, training and taking selfies on Centre Court.
"0 Grand Slams in one photo, but hey, love conquers all," they captioned one picture.
Tsitsipas recently told Greek media outlet SDNA that the relationship only started after he messaged Badosa to congratulate her on defeating Ons Jabeur in Rome.
"It was meant to happen," the 24-year-old said. "I feel like I'm falling in love for the first time in my life. I never expected this to happen and it gives me a new perspective on life."
All England Club spectators, shivering in the damp and cold on Tuesday, will get the chance to warm to the couple on Tuesday when they start their Wimbledon campaigns.
Tsitsipas was facing former US Open Dominic Thiem while Badosa is up against Alison Riske-Amritraj.

Britain's Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur of Australia, who have been dating for two years, open their campaigns on the same Court 18.
Boulter was first up against Daria Saville before De Minaur, the world number 17, faces Kimmer Coppejans of Belgium.
Boulter and De Minaur are renting a nearby house during the championships.
"I feel like we continually both push each other," said 26-year-old Boulter, the British number one.
"There's a lot I've learned from him as a person and as a player. I'm very lucky to have an insider who knows the emotions that I go through on and off the court.
"He's an incredible player and, as you can see from his ranking, he does it week in, week out. I've got a lot to learn from him. I do my best to watch what he does and emulate it."

Seems like Shelton's more of a hard court kind of guy since he grew up on college courts and made it to the AO quarters this year. The next couple of months should seal that one way or the other.

“Stank sleeve”, R413?
by Anonymous | reply 418 | July 6, 2023 11:26 PM |
Shelton had to have played on clay, he lived in Florida. The U.S.'s stupidity in making EVERY outdoor event, save Newport and Houston, hard court events hasn't done much for anyone having big success in Europe. Connors, at his peak in the 70's, could play on anything.
by Anonymous | reply 419 | July 6, 2023 11:27 PM |
Green clay is very, very common in Florida.
by Anonymous | reply 420 | July 6, 2023 11:28 PM |
Har-Tru. Amelia Island on the WTA used to be played on it, I think.
Was Houston on the ATP once clay?

It was, R421.
by Anonymous | reply 422 | July 6, 2023 11:32 PM |
Houston is red clay-ish now. It's the US Clay Courts (for men only). The tournament was in Indianapolis for about 30 years, then switched to cement.
by Anonymous | reply 423 | July 6, 2023 11:34 PM |
Half of the courts at the Evert Academy in Florida are clay.
by Anonymous | reply 424 | July 6, 2023 11:35 PM |
I love playing on clay, esp when it's damp after a rain. It's soft and slow and you have good footing yet you can slide.
by Anonymous | reply 425 | July 6, 2023 11:37 PM |
"Shelton had to have played on clay, he lived in Florida. The U.S.'s stupidity in making EVERY outdoor event, save Newport and Houston, hard court events hasn't done much for anyone having big success in Europe. Connors, at his peak in the 70's, could play on anything."
He's definitely played on U.S. "green clay" or Har-tru many times. Different than red European clay, but, still, it can force a player to learn to deal with erratic bounces, and recognize the necessity of sliding. But most players don't play on it a ton. Also, while while there aren't European red clay courts in the States, there are some, including at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. I'm sure he trained on red clay before he ever played on it in Europe. There used to be many more clay (at least "American"/green clay) court tournaments in the U.S. Indianapolis and Boston were clay and they were during the summer leading up to the US Open. But that's 30 years ago.
Some players have a knack for adjusting to surfaces. Agassi grew up on hard courts but was fine to excellent on both clay and grass.
As for grass generally, hardly anyone spends much time on grass outside of the 5-week grass season. I think the USTA national campus has some grass courts, but I don't think most players spend a ton of time training on grass. And why would they since there's only a handful of tournaments on grass per year.
by Anonymous | reply 426 | July 7, 2023 12:12 AM |
Nonetheless Shelton hadn't played on a clay court until the 2023 Lyon tournament.
by Anonymous | reply 427 | July 7, 2023 12:13 AM |

"Different than red European clay, but, still, it can force a player to learn to deal with erratic bounces, and recognize the necessity of sliding. But most players don't play on it a ton."
I should edit that and say "many players don't play it a ton." Some players, especially those based in Florida, do play on it quite a bit.

by Anonymous | reply 430 | July 7, 2023 12:24 AM |
R430, NYC also has 24/7 noise and public transportation. Wimbledon had to agree to the curfew as a condition of putting the roof on Centre Court, apparently because the neighbors didn't want the crowds milling around late at night.

Big Foe, like Paul and Daddy, kinda sorta has a bimbo-ish looking chick - albeit a black one. I don't know. Sometimes she looks fairly normal. Other times like she went under the knife in hopes of being an Instagram star. But why shouldn't these guys have this - they're young, horny, wealthy athletes. If you were a 25 year old, gay athlete with money, you'd probably laugh it someone said you were shallow for dating a hot gym queen mimbo with a banging body and nice package who wasn't all that smart. Get it while you can.

Badosa has had a lot of retirements when down a set. There's a post on TF from last year pointing out that she's had 25 match retirements when behind which is high.
I saw a little bit of the match and it was funny seeing Kostyuk run to the net, Paula panicking and missing when all she needed to do was hit normally. That happened at least 3 points.

Eubanks has done commentating for Tennis Channel and it's been very well received. Nice that he has sort of done an "internship" and can probably parlay that into a post-tennis broadcasting career of some sort.
He's up to 40 in the world with this win - so he's looking at at least an entire year of not having to qualify for basically any tournament. Plus, the recent success helps in terms of money. Eubanks is really well-liked on tour and known as a super nice guy.

And there was a photo before Wimbledon of Andreescu and Ons practising together. So (while I don't really know if Ons truly believed the ball was out or not) it seems that their personal friendly relationship influenced Andreescu in cancelling her challenge. The umpire was laughing the whole time, I don't think she'd ever had a player cancel a challenge before.

Sabatini is actually more feminine looking now than in her latter playing days. When she first came along at 14 she was stunning in an androgynous way, looking a lot like Ralph Macchio in The Outsiders. Then at about 17 she decided she had to beef up and developed enormour shoulders. She always swaggered like John Wayne, but then add to that a modified mullet and Gaby looked as butch as all getout, if not still facially stunning. Since retirement, she no longer has to work out and has gotten much leaner and sleaker looking. Still throughout, she's always been gorgeous.

by Anonymous | reply 536 | July 9, 2023 6:45 PM |
Whoa, Swiatek almost lost that match against Bencic. Faced match points. Bencic is a good player (Olympic champion) but it's not a good sign if she goes on to face Rybakina, Kvitova or Sabalenka. I will give her credit for staying mentally strong though.
by Anonymous | reply 537 | July 9, 2023 7:31 PM |
Bencic blew that match.

No handshake between Azarenka and Svitolina.
by Anonymous | reply 539 | July 9, 2023 7:41 PM |
Another CLOSE match. Mrs Monfils wins in the third set tie breaker against Azarenka. Gael and Skai must be very proud at home.
by Anonymous | reply 540 | July 9, 2023 7:41 PM |
R539 Svitolina's been clear from the start that she won't shake the hands of Russian or Belarussian players.
by Anonymous | reply 541 | July 9, 2023 7:43 PM |
Yes, R541, Svitolina's a petty bitch. She and Swiatek are probably the ones bullying players like Sabalenka. Azarenka gave her a very sportsmanlike fist in acknowledgment of her win.
by Anonymous | reply 542 | July 9, 2023 7:46 PM |
A Hubi-Djoker match is pretty anticlimactic after Swiatek and Svitolina's wins.
by Anonymous | reply 543 | July 9, 2023 7:46 PM |
What's the over/under on Djokovic winning in 3 sets?
by Anonymous | reply 544 | July 9, 2023 7:56 PM |
I still want to service Hubie.

by Anonymous | reply 546 | July 9, 2023 8:36 PM |
So fucking typical - Hubie had that tie-break on his racket. Just needed to put down a serve like he'd done previously 90% of the time during the set and he crumbles, and NoVaxxx escapes.

Most interesting matches tomorrow for me:
Dimitrov-Rune
Alcaraz-Berrettini
Jabeur-Kvitova

I haven't seen a Djokovic match in a while. Is this affected Dowager Empress style of walking around a new thing?
by Anonymous | reply 549 | July 9, 2023 9:13 PM |
No he's been doing that stick up his ass walk for years now
by Anonymous | reply 550 | July 9, 2023 9:17 PM |
Loving Hubie's nipples thru his shirt today. He doesn't have a ton of sex appeal but the chest looks great.
by Anonymous | reply 551 | July 9, 2023 9:30 PM |
And Hubie repeats the same 'feat' in the second set tie-break.
Unbelieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevable!

At least my Ruby got through. Love that curly red hair - reminds me so much of the helmet do that women wore in the 1960s (if he's shape it and use some hairspray)

by Anonymous | reply 555 | July 9, 2023 9:44 PM |
R553, are you talking about Rublev? I do find him adorable, as well as Medvedev, they are buddies and their off-court shenanigans are cute. Rublev calls Meddy 'the octopus' because of his flailing style. Meddy calls Rublev, 'Bweah" for obvious reasons.
by Anonymous | reply 556 | July 9, 2023 9:47 PM |
R525 I hope Gabi and Delpo were discussing who will publicly come out first.
by Anonymous | reply 557 | July 9, 2023 9:51 PM |
I tried to find out who she's dating but I had a laugh at that the best I could come up with were things like that supposedly she dated Ricky Martin for 5 months (yes, the very gay Ricky Martin) and supposedly Trump for 1 month (my guess is that they were photographed at some function and the press ran with that).
It's unusual for a 'drop dead gorgeous' woman to have had no serious relationships. While I didn't dig deeply, I didn't find anything about a woman either so clearly she isn't publicly 'out' if she's gay.
by Anonymous | reply 558 | July 9, 2023 9:59 PM |
I think she's a national heroine in Argentina and so even if she were diving for muff, I doubt she would be public about it.
by Anonymous | reply 559 | July 9, 2023 10:01 PM |
Gay marriage has been legal in Argentina since 2010 - it's not a bad place to be out, but of course many older people still don't necessarily want to be out.
by Anonymous | reply 560 | July 9, 2023 10:03 PM |
Yes, R556 - I really liked him in an interview I saw after one of his matches. Very self deprecating - I think he said something like, 'I understand how people feel about me, considering where I'm from.' meaning Russia. I thought he made it clear he hated the war - maybe wrote something on a camera lens? Oh my memory sucks.
I also saw him in a dual interview with Sabalenka that was cute. She was flirting with him but the reverse wasn't true imo LOL. Anyway, I think he will face the Dowager Empress on Tuesday so so much for this Wimby. But QFs is pretty good.
by Anonymous | reply 561 | July 9, 2023 10:22 PM |
Yes, R561, very early in the War, Rublev wrote Peace on a camera lens after a match...both Rublev and Meddy have expressed their opposition to the war. I'm not sure where Rublev lives, but I know Meddy lives in Monte Carlo (his coach is French and he speaks French), so I don't know how much those two were about repercussions.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | July 9, 2023 10:27 PM |
that last sentence should be 'concerned about repercussions'

I find Hubie quite sexy. He has a bangin' body and very cute in the face. I kind of like his pigeon toe walk too.

There was a guy at the Hubie-Djokovic match to the left of the scoreboard who was hot. He was wearing a grey shirt and wore glasses, had very dark brown or black hair. He looked like what DL would call "white adjacent".
by Anonymous | reply 570 | July 10, 2023 3:32 AM |
Is it "Hue-bie" or 'Hoo-bie"? Inquiring minds want to know.

Wimbledon is a district and town of Southwest London, England
Wimbledon was a local government district in north-east Surrey from 1866 to 1965 covering the town of Wimbledon and its surrounding area. It was part of the London postal district and Metropolitan Police District.
The borough was abolished in 1965 by the London Government Act 1963 and the area was transferred to Greater London to be combined with that the Municipal Borough of Mitcham and the Merton and Morden Urban District to form the present-day London Borough of Merton.

Andreeva is having a Raducanu-like run from through qualifying, isn't she. She doesn't hit the ball hard but she's quick on her feet, good footwork, smart and accurate. Unlike Raducanu I expect her to have to play at least one of the top players though.
